Charter Design Contest
Barony of Glymm Mere

The Barony of Glymm Mere is having a competition to bring out the design skills of our scribes!  The competition opens September 2nd, and ends at Scribal Night on November 24th.  

The competition is for the design a new Crystal of Glymm Mere.  You may use the wording on the existing Crystal or create your own wording.  If you choose to create new wording, it must be approved by the Baron and Baroness in advance.  The charter must be complete, including calligraphy, but the calligraphy may be done by others.  There are no restrictions on style or period.  Please include a short note explaining your inspiration for the design and where you found the examples.  The design should be blank (unpainted), measure 11x14 (including margins), and be on 11x17 white paper, oriented to the top of the page so that the bottom 3 inches can be cut off.  Be sure to allow room for the seal. 

The charters must be submitted no later than November 24th, at scribal night.  Anyone who is not able to attend scribal night may make arrangements with Muireann to get the charter to her prior to November 24th.  No submissions will be accepted after that date.  The winner of the contest will be announced at Yule Feast on December 5th.

The charters will be judged by the Baron and Baroness and the Baronial Scribe.  The winning charter will be used by the Baron and Baroness, and the designer will receive “Masterpieces of Illumination”, a beautifully illustrated 500-page hardbound book full of color images of period manuscripts.  Muireann has a copy of this book in her personal library and will show it to anyone who asks.
